This Privacy Policy applies specifically to the Mizobox Mobile Application for Android and iOS devices, provided by Mizobox (“we”, “our”, or “us”).
1. Summary: Privacy by Design
The Mizobox mobile application is designed as a privacy-focused media player and file viewer. We do not require user accounts or collect personal identification details to stream or play shared media.
2. No Account or Registration Required
You can use the Mizobox mobile app without creating an account, logging in, or providing your name, email address, phone number, or contacts.
3. On-Device Local Storage
The following data is stored strictly locally on your device using your device's private storage:
- Recent Files: Links, titles, and thumbnails of media items you recently opened.
- Shared Folders: Saved shared folder IDs, sharer names, and handles that you opened.
- Downloaded Files: Offline media files saved to your device storage.
- Playback Preferences: Selected default video quality and playback settings.
This data is never transmitted to, synced with, or stored on Mizobox servers. You can clear your Recent Files, Shared Folders, or Download History at any time directly inside the app under Settings > Data.
4. Network Requests & Streaming
When you enter a share code, paste a link, or stream a video, the app transmits encrypted HTTPS requests to our content delivery endpoints to verify playback permissions and stream the media. These requests may include standard HTTP headers (such as app version and IP address) used transiently for bandwidth routing, rate limiting, and security.
5. Third-Party Advertising (Google AdMob)
The Mizobox mobile app uses Google AdMob to display advertisements:
- AdMob may collect and process device identifiers (such as the Google Advertising ID or IDFA), coarse location, and ad interaction metrics to deliver and report on ads in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
- You can manage, limit, or reset your advertising identifier at any time in your mobile device settings (Settings > Google > Ads on Android or Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking on iOS).
6. App Permissions
- Internet Access: Required to fetch streaming video data and verify playback tokens.
- Storage / Downloads: Required only when you choose to save a media file locally to your device.
- Wake Lock: Prevents the screen from turning off while video playback is active.
7. Children's Privacy
The Mizobox app does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13.
